Or office, along with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), recommend establishing a dental home for your child by age one. Children with a dental home are more likely to receive the preventive and routine oral health care they need.
What To Expect At your child’s first dental visit, we focus on creating a positive and comfortable experience. We’ll gently examine their teeth and gums, checking for any signs of decay or other issues. We’ll also discuss oral hygiene practices, demonstrating proper brushing and flossing techniques, and answering any questions you may have. This initial visit is primarily about getting your child acquainted with the dental environment and building a foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles. We’ll make sure your child feels safe and relaxed, and we’ll tailor our approach to their individual needs and comfort level. We look forward to meeting you and your little one!
We invite you to stay with your child during the initial appointment. During future appointments, we suggest you wait in the waiting room and allow your child to go back to the exam chair with our staff. We can usually establish a closer rapport with your child when you are not present. This is to gain your child’s confidence and overcome any dental apprehension! However, you are more than welcome to accompany them into the treatment room.
